Doyle Dewis Shaw Obituary

He was a good friend to me - although I only knew him for my senior year. We lived in across from each other in housing on Freeport Center. He was a great runner in high school. I remember his smile and gentle sense of humor the most. Met him once again in his studio in Provo. He had the same smile.

He was a good friend to me - although I only knew him for my senior year. We lived in across from each other in housing on Freeport Center. He was a great runner in high school. I remember his smile and gentle sense of humor the most. Met him once again in his studio in Provo. He had the same smile.
I wish I had caught up to him but, I see by the dates, my wife and I were attending the MTC in Provo - preparing to depart for a mission to the Syracuse New York mission as MLS missionaries.

Doyle was first of all, an artist, a painter and master of figure drawing. He loved creating art. He loved capturing in paint and on paper his ideas of the beautiful, and he has left us a marvelous legacy of his life's creations. He organized a weekly life drawing class in Springville about 30 years ago, and continued sponsoring that group right up to the present. He will be sorely missed. Many of Utah's finest artists participated with him in that studio experience, sharing the sweet spirit that Doyle generated as he selected and scheduled the models and set up the poses.
Doyle was also a story teller who filled in the breaks in class with countless tales of his unique life experiences. All of us who participated with Doyle in that group will miss that weekly get together with him. He was a good man.
